'Dolly Dots ‎- The Complete Album Collection ... And A Little Bit More' is an exciting new box set released by CD-licious. It contains all the albums by the Dutch girl band Dolly Dots, with many tracks appearing on CD for the first time. Here we would like to share some information regarding the work gone in remastering the audio as well as the sound quality on this set.

The philosophy behind the audio remastering, done by Rudolf Ondrich, was to present the audio at the highest technical and musical standards possible. No additional compression was applied in order to retain the original dynamic range. In addition, noise reduction and other filtering was applied in a way that enhanced and not degraded the audio.

Unfortunately not all master tapes could be found. For these tracks the best possible source was used, with some sourced from vinyl. Great care has been taken to make these tracks sound the best it can and minimise any clicks and other noises.

The attached graphic compares the waveforms of the song “Crazy Situation” from Dolly Dots - The Collection [BMG Nederland BV - 74321612222] (1998) and this new set.

As can be seen the 1998 master has heavy compression applied to it, making it sound flat and distorted. Heavy noise reduction filtering was also applied which has further degraded the sound quality. In comparison, the mastering on this box set retains the original dynamics with no additional compression and excessive noise reduction filtering.
By mastering the audio in this way the musical enjoyment can be maximised, letting you enjoy the music in the best possible audio quality.
